Kimi Membership Credit System Update

What's Changing

To give members more flexibility in how they use their benefits, we've updated the membership billing system to a unified credit model. Overall, this change gives you access to more total usage than before.
Table

AfterBefore
How usage is countedA single credit pool shared across all featuresEach feature had its own separate quota (e.g., 20 Agent uses, 20 PPT uses)
FlexibilityUse your credits on whatever features you wantCredits couldn't be transferred between features
Usage calculationCredits are deducted based on actual resource usage — simpler tasks cost lessEvery task consumed the same amount regardless of complexity
Example: A heavy PPT user can now put all their credits toward PPT, getting 40–50 generations per cycle instead of being capped at 20.

What Are Credits?

Credits are a unified balance that you can spend across all Kimi membership features, including:
  • Agent features: Website generation, document processing, PPT creation, spreadsheet tools, deep research, and more
  • Kimi Code: AI coding assistant
  • Kimi Claw: Deployable personal AI assistant
  • Kimi Chat: Chat with the latest model
  • Other benefits: Image generation, and more

How Credits Are Calculated

Credit consumption is based on token usage — the more content a task involves (input and output combined), the more credits it uses.
Approximate usage examples (for free-tier users):
  • Generating a simple PPT: ~1–2% of credits
  • Running a deep research task: ~5–10% of credits
  • Writing a piece of code: ~0.5–2% of credits

How Your Existing Benefits Are Migrated

Everything migrates automatically — no action needed.
  • Your current membership benefits will be automatically converted to credits
  • The change takes effect immediately after the upgrade
  • Any unused benefits will be carried over in full
Note: Because different tasks consume different amounts of credits, the number of times you can use a feature may vary compared to the old system.

Credit Rules

Refresh Schedule

Credits reset monthly for both monthly and annual subscribers.
There may also be concurrency limits within a single conversation or task (e.g., a 5-hour or 7-day window). Check the in-app prompt for specifics.

Deduction Order

When you have multiple types of credits, they are used in this order:
  1. Bonus credits first (e.g., trial credits, promotional rewards)
  2. Subscription credits second

When Credits Run Out

  • Any task already in progress will complete normally
  • New tasks will be paused with a low-credit notice
When that happens, you can either wait for your credits to refresh, or upgrade to a higher membership tier.

Checking Your Credit Balance

On web: Me → Settings → Subscription
On mobile: Me → Membership Plan → Subscription
You'll be able to see:
  • Current balance — displayed as a percentage
  • Next refresh date — when your credits will reset
  • Usage history — your last 10 transactions, including timestamp, feature used, and credits consumed
Usage data may have a short delay (typically under 5 minutes). Your displayed balance reflects the most current figure.

FAQ

Q: Why does my usage count look different from before? Billing has shifted from "per use" to "based on actual resource consumption." Simple tasks may use fewer credits than before; complex tasks may use more. In typical usage, your overall benefits are equivalent or better than before.
Q: Can I put all my credits toward one feature? Yes. That's the whole point. You're free to concentrate all your credits on whichever feature you use most.
Q: Do bonus credits expire? Yes. Bonus credits come with an expiration date (e.g., 7 days or 30 days) and will be forfeited once expired.
Q: How do I get more credits?
  • Upgrade to a higher membership tier
  • Participate in official promotions to earn bonus credits
  • Wait for your credits to refresh (every 5 hours, weekly, or monthly depending on the type)

Notes & Disclaimers

  1. Usage varies: Credit consumption differs across features and task complexity. Actual usage is determined at the time of each task.
  2. Data delay: Usage history may be delayed by up to 5 minutes. Your live credit balance is always the most accurate figure.
  3. Conversion estimates: The conversion of legacy quotas to credits is based on estimated averages. Actual usage counts may differ depending on your usage patterns.
  4. Feature availability: Certain experimental features (e.g., Agent Swarm, Kimi Claw) are only available to specific membership tiers.
If you do not agree with the updated billing terms, please refer to the Kimi Paid Services Agreement for next steps. For any other questions, please reach out to customer support.
