3D Make FAQ

Can Kimi connect to a printer and print my work directly?

No. 3D Make generates models and related files; it does not connect to or control a 3D printer. You still need to inspect and process the model in external software, prepare it in slicing software compatible with your printer, and then follow your printer's own workflow to print.

Why do I need pre-print checks even when the preview looks fine?

The web preview helps you see the shape and presentation. Actual printing also involves dimensions, wall thickness, integrity, part connections, supports, materials, and device conditions.

Check dimensions, placement, and the layer-by-layer preview in your slicing software, and resolve issues before printing. A preview image cannot guarantee structural strength, assembly accuracy, or a successful print.

Which printable file formats can I export?

You can export STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP, and GLB. Choose based on the software you'll use next: STL and 3MF are common for slicing and printing; OBJ and GLB are common for further editing in modeling software such as Blender; choose STEP when you need precise CAD data.

What's the difference between model files, editable source files, and sliced files?

File typeWhat it does
Model fileStores the 3D geometry for viewing, editing, or print preparation in compatible software
Editable source filePreserves the project or modeling logic needed for further design changes; requires the corresponding software or runtime environment
Sliced projectStores model placement, printer, and material settings; verify it matches your own device before use
Printer instruction fileGenerated by slicing software for a specific device and parameters, used to execute the print job

A preview web page is display content and cannot substitute for these files. Check the actual deliverables against your next step.

Should I keep editing or start over when the result disappoints?

If the subject and direction are right, point out the specific issues in the same conversation and state what to keep. If you chose the wrong type or the overall direction is far off, reorganize your purpose and core requirements, then start a new creation.
